Among the many, many protests going on at this time in history, this one was a gathering against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
For some background, the pipeline was originally going to go through near Bismarck, North Dakota, however, due to concerns over the safety of the water when the pipe is service, they adjusted the route. The new route goes through other peoples land and risks poisoning their water as well. But, it’s an Indian reservation so the authorities in North Dakota seem to be ignoring their calls for a route that doesn’t poison anybody’s water.
Anyway, that’s the story about the pipeline protests. The people being affected are living on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
