Hot Rods are meant to be shown off. They’re meant to be admired. They’re meant to be seen. That’s why they’re created. Well, that and the love from the owner/creator of the vehicle. None of these are ever factory made, at least none of the ones that I’ve ever seen. There’s too much attention to detail for them to be made in a factory. If they were the place would rival the handcrafted cars of today, like what I understand Koenigsegg does, and their cars are a little too expensive for most of us.
Hot Rods, however, aren’t too expensive because you don’t buy it all at once. You slowly bleed yourself out as you order part after part from eBay over a few years. Then you burn yourself out by working on it every weekend for more years (listening Barbie Girl every weekend takes a toll), then when you think you’ve finished your build you close the hood and turn it on, only to hear a strange noise. Then you start a new process of looking for the reason there’s a new noise. While they may not initially sound like they’re more expensive, they might actually be in the same ballpark once you consider time.
To those that dedicate the time, energy, effort, money, and sacrifices to get these things built and on the road, all I can say is THANK YOU. They’re awesome and so worth it.
