The best thing about getting older is not caring. Not that you don’t care at all as you get older, but your worries about certain things just go away.
For instance, if you’re driving you don’t need to look. That’s for other people with faster reaction times. Looking is not for someone that’s enjoying a ride as they coast through the city. Besides, how much looking really needs to be done in your life? People are always saying “look!” and making you look at something. When you’re young they train you to “look both ways” before crossing the street. When you’re working your boss yells “get your hand out of your pants and look at me when I’m talking to you!” When you’re on the sidewalk you have to lookout for others. It’s just ridiculous. Far too much looking. A person can’t be expected to keep it up their whole life.
That’s why looking is one of the first things to go. I wouldn’t do it either, if I didn’t have to. I’m still just a little too young to give up on it. I’m close though. There’s nothing that says you can’t retire young, just like there’s nothing forcing you to look.
