Getting pulled over by the cops is one thing, but when you look up and it’s a bicycle cop doing it, you can’t feel too good about it. You are in a car, a 2,000+ pound machine that can go 70mph without a worry. They are on a bicycle that can get up to 30mph if it’s being peddled hard and going downhill. It’s not like these are super bikes, they’re regular mountain bikes. Yet there you are, waiting for a ticket from the guy that has to put his kick stand out first. Ouch.
On the other hand, it’s actually a great way to catch people using their phones (which is what I think was what was happening here), not buckling, or breaking whatever other laws (smoking weed – this is California) they might be breaking. If there’s traffic there’s no where to run for the driver, and the cop can weave through traffic like it’s nothing. They could do it walking, too, but they would have to run to catch up to the cars… OK, so now I’m hoping I can catch that on camera one day. That would be fantastic.
