Why would you ever pay attention to your surroundings when you can just as easily ignore them and look like an idiot?
That’s what this van driver decided to do. He hates paying attention to the rest of the world, his main concern is getting through this intersection and home as fast as possible. It doesn’t matter who you are, or what you need to do, this guy doesn’t care. He’s looking out for himself and himself only.
Considering all that, it makes perfect sense that he would completely block and intersection while he sits through a red light looking like a dummy.
Oh well, we’ve all done it thinking the traffic was going to move before the light changed.
